Updates
This page is for me to record any updates to the site as they are made.
1/11/03
- Registry update! Welcome to Kevin Presland who has been added to the C32 section. There is also a page about his car with some pictures in the C32 articles section. On the same note, our own Steve Williams now has his own C32 on the road so we should be finding out a little more about that as well. Keep checking!
29/10/03
- Thanks to an eagle eyed member we've been sent some impromptu shots of an Infiniti J30 on British streets! You can learn more about this rather rare motor in the 'Others and Overseas' section, under America.
19/10/03
- As you might have guessed there hasn't been a whole hell of a lot to report on recently! Thanks for the encouraging e-mails though!
- Welcome to Steve Nichol, a crazy guy who rides a 1.4 litre bike. With only a marginally larger engine, he's well please with his 1995 QX, and you can see a picture on the link from Steve's name on the owners' registry.
- Poor old Norman Leck has had a bit of rotten luck with his gearbox. If he can't get it sorted he's going to be offering his car for spares, so if anyone is interested please contact me straight away!
28/05/03
- Thanks to Ganesh over on the other side of the world! He's sent over some mad photos that he found of a modded Nissan President! You can find them in the others and overseas section under 'Japan'.
- Registry Update! Welcome to John, Eric and Garrison, and I've updated a couple of e-mail addresses.
27/04/03
After a very stagnant period I'm pleased to announce some new owners. Steve Williams has just taken delivery of a wonderful C32 Laurel, and keeping it in the family, Col Williams has just bought a rather sweet T72 Bluebird. Now that we've got some new metal other than J30s to play with we should hopefully be able to inject some new articles for you. Watch this space!
1/2/03
Registry Update! OK, so you thought it was quiet...that's because I'd dropped a bollock on the e-mail attachments, so a long overdue welcome goes to *takes breath*: Richard from Wirral (Bluebird Exec), Oderaro Remi from Surrey (J30), John from Croydon (J30), Mark from Lancashire (A32), and last but not least Ian from Surrey with a completely mad sounding Cedric Gran Turismo! Wow! Apologies to all the aforementioned for the very long time in their appearance. My fault - Pete
30/11/02
Registry Update! Welcome to Ian from Surrey, increasing our Bluebird membership, and from overseas a big hello to Pablo, a C32 owner all the way from Trinidad.
03/11/02
I've put up a little something on the gearbox faults that can strike the Bluebird. It's in the common problems section under T72.
31/10/02
Well, it's Halloween and I think the kids must finally be getting the message as NOBODY has knocked on my door! To celebrate, here's a cracking new U11 article from Steve, complete with Media quotes and technical specifications. Enjoy! It's in the Bluebird section.
23/10/02
Registry Update! This one is a peach. Welcome to Steve from North Wales with his Japanese Y31 Cedric Brougham. Expect a follow up article on this one pretty soon!
21/10/02
Registry Update! Sincerest greetings to Keith from Lancashire.
- They're all coming out now! Niall has updated his registry entry to include his Bluebird as well! Thanks Niall.
20/10/02
- I've put up a cracking short article that Steve has put together with some pictures and info that Per from Norway has sent us about his VG30 engined C32 Laurel. Check it out in the C32 section.
- Registry Update! Big welcome to Niall from Nottinghamshire.
- Registry Update! A warm welcome to our very first registered Bluebird owner. Hi there Ste!
11/10/02
- Wow - it has been a while since the last update. Sorry everyone :-( Anyway, this update is a biggie - we have a new section! Although the T12/T72 Bluebird doesn't fit the 'four doors, six cylinders' criteria, they are big compared to Micras, and Steve and I both love them - so they get in! All contributions for this section are warmly welcomed.
23/8/02
- Registry Update! Welcome aboard Jim from Lancashire, our newest QX owner!
22/8/02
- Owing to 'beseen' ceasing their forum hosting service we have a new forum hosted by 'wapus' (don't ask me where they get these damn silly names from). It's a lot more complicated and powerful than the last one, but it can still be easy to use if you ignore the advanced features. I'm looking at getting one hosted by Hippy Net which will be simpler, and COMPLETELY advert, pop up and banner free! In the meantime, try the new one out.
- Registry update! A big hearty welcome to Sean (A32), Gordon (J30) and our very first female owner, Sue!
- The site is not getting updated quite as frequently as it used to, and one of the reasons for that is that Steve and I are running out of ideas for articles and sections! Feel free to propose anything that you like the sound of!
12/8/02
- Update with a nice new pic of Steve's car.
16/7/02
- Wahey! Steve has got us listed in 'Classics' magazine with a mini review and a 4 out of 5 star rating. Well done people - thanks to everyone who contributed.
- Registry Update: A very warm welcome to Bill Tyson!
14/7/02
- Steve has penned another gem on the snobbery of the British classic car scene. You'll find it in the 'weird' section of any of the articles sections.
- JAE is fast approaching people - if you're going to come then let me know!
19/6/02
- Registry Update: Hi to Per, our new Scandinavian friend!
14/6/02
- Great new article on the 300C from Will, a seasoned owner and all round Datsun nut. It's in the Y30 articles section.
- Registry Updates: Hi to Richard in the J30 section, and thanks to Norman for registering his fleet :-)
29/5/02
- The 'help a student' link is now removed as Alexander has completed his dissertation. He'll be sending me a copy so I'll let you know of his conclusions. Alexander offers his thanks to everyone who contributed.
13/5/02
- Registry Update! Hi there Andrew!
6/5/02
- Following the announcement by Nissan of the forthcoming withdrawal from sale of the A33 MaximaQX, I've penned my tribute. If you want to feel miserable, it's under 'articles' in the A33 section. Why Nissan? Why, oh why?
4/5/02
- I've just finished swapping an ECU and heater radiator with Steve, so I've written it up. It's in the 'common problems' section of the J30 section. Enjoy!
29/4/02
- Brace yourselves, I've actually got round to writing an article again! Just when you thought we'd exhausted everything Pete gives a few words on exhausts. Check it out in any of the articles sections!
25/4/02
- Another new article! This one is again from Steve and provides useful information if you are thinking about hitting the classifieds for a set of wheels. Check it out in the J30, A32 and A33 articles section.
20/4/02
- Registry Update! Hi there Kevin!
11/4/02
- How would you fancy a complete brake failure just when you need them most? Steve is just bursting to share his side splitting tale with you. Look up 'Breaking under Braking' in the J30 articles. It's scary!
21/3/02
- I've put up a research form that I had sent to me by a student researching the Nissan Renault strategic alliance. Why not fill it in?
16/3/02
- Massive article on the new C35 Laurel from Ganesh. Well worth a look in the 'Japan' subsection of 'others and overseas'.
13/3/02
- Steve does it yet again! Check out 'Others and Overseas' in the Japan and Asia section to see the Korean Samsung SM5 - no it's not a video recorder!
- Registry Update! Hi there Karl!
12/3/02
- Steve has been busy and penned an article spanning the formative history of the US Maxima range, including a look at the 810s and 910s. You can find it in the 'Americas' section of the 'Other and Overseas' section.
- Registry Update! Welcome to the club Mike!
5/3/02
- I've gone through the site and changed some of the e-mail address links that were pointing at old addresses.
28/2/02
- Registry Update! At last - Nigel has registered his 300C and very interesting R31 Skyline.
26/2/02
- Registry Update! Welcome to John - a QX owner from the very, very far North!
25/2/02
- It's been a while hasn't it? Due to popular demand (can you believe that? It's true!) we now have a section in the registry for none-owners. Crazy but true.
9/2/02
- Pete has updated his 'Utopia' article and it is now finally uploaded!
- I've made a small change to the 'speaking volumes' article in the C32 section so the sounds don't autostart anymore. Yeah, it's trivial but it was hacking me off!
8/2/02
- One of our American friends, Craig Brace, has finally got round to writing up his 'Utopia' contribution. Check it under the 'Road to Utopia' article from any of the sections.
- I've added a couple of pictures that Ganesh kindly supplied of the C31 Suspension air compressor and economy gauge system. Have a look in the 'specs' page and the 'strictly on the level' article in the C31 section.
6/2/02
- Pete has written a mini article on the deeply strange Mitsuoka Le-Seyde. You can find it in the others/overseas on the Japan page (and no, it's not a fake!)
5/2/02
- I've added a page of business cards so that you can spread the word amongst other big nissans that you see. Just drop one under the wiper, but don't annoy people! You can find them on the articles page of each section.
4/2/02
- Pete has added a mini article on the US market Infiniti I35 - you can read about it in the Others/Overseas section under 'Americas'.
2/2/02
- Registry Update! Glad to have you with us Derek - we need more Northerners!
1/2/02

30/1/02
- Steve has added a page for the elegant (and STILL rear wheel drive!) Y34 Cedric/Gloria range. Look it up under the 'Japan' page in others and overseas.
29/1/02
- Norman has penned a list of common faults for the 300C and some solutions to get them working again. Check it out in the Y30 section.
27/1/02
- Steve has added an interesting page on the R31 Skyline Saloon in the Others/Overseas section. Check it out under the 'Africa' pages.
26/1/02
- Our new domain host uses URL masking. Whilst this is neat, and looks nice, when combined with the frame based nature of the site it makes it a nightmare to try and link to or bookmark. Anyway, to cut an already too long story short, I've added a line of script to the bottom of each article giving it's absolute location if you want to link to it.
25/1/02
- Pete has cobbled up a first for bignissans...a true multimedia article! Making use of sound samples SHAMELESSLY poached from Datsunworld you too can experience the joy of the Laurel Voice Computer! Check it out in the C32 section.
24/1/02
- Steve has penned a cracking intro article for the C32. You can find it in the C32 Laurel section.
23/1/02
- New mini article on the C31 self levelling suspension(!) from Ganesh. See the C31 section for more.
- Update to C31 specs - thanks again Ganesh!
22/1/02
- We now have a C31 section up and open - we did it!
- We have our first C31 article penned by Steve. Check it out in the C31 articles section.
- We've got a couple of entries up now in the Overseas section. Be sure to have a look - one of them is a real peach :-)
21/1/02
- We have a gallant volunteer to manage the Y30 300C section. Norman is a highly experienced owner of an unhealthy amount of Y30s!
- Steve has submitted a mini article on an amazing report of a VG30E engined J30 with 400k on the clock! You can find it in the J30 and Y30 sections.
20/1/02
- Registry update - Hi there Phil!
- I've now got the C32 section up and open. Again, there's not much there yet, so get busy typing!
- Unfortunately neither Steve or I own C31, C32 or Y30 models, so if anyone wants to donate one to us to help us write articles and further the cause we're quite open to offers...oh well, thought not ;-)
19/1/02
- The Others/Overseas section is now up and awaiting content.
- I have set up and opened the Y30 300C section. There's not much there yet, so if you want content - get writing!
- It is coming together folks - thanks to everyone who has helped.
18/1/02
- Registry Update - Hi there John!
- We now have an A33 section! Why not pay a visit. Many of the article are A33 relevant but lifted from other sections. That's something we aim to remedy in the future, with your help!
- Thanks Steve - we have our first exclusive A33 article...the intruigingly titled "Journalist, My Arse!". Check it out in the A33 articles section.
17/1/02
- Registry Update - welcome aboard Iwan!
- I'm really appreciative of the stuff that's starting to come in for the earlier models. Thanks to everyone for info and contributions and I really do hope to get some stuff up as soon as possible.
16/1/02
- A32 stuff is now ported from maxima.org.uk
- URL is submitted with google, altavista, ask jeeves and yahoo
- Public launch ready to begin!
15/1/02
- Ouch - my eyes hurt and my mind is scrambled but the J30 contents from maxima.org.uk have now been fully ported over to the new site. I still need to sort out the registry and some of the A32 articles but a big lump of work has been done.
- Take that back...just sorted the registry with subdivisions and ported the associated owner's pages.
14/1/02
- The www.bignissans.org.uk URL is now fully operational!
13/1/02
- Top banner now made clickable to return to the main site home page (thanks Craig!)
- The overall size of the blue menu on the left has been reduced to be fully compatible with 800x600 screen modes. (Thanks Craig also!)
12/1/02
- Top banner modified a little, and the site is now Netscape friendly. If you use Navigator there's a very pretty opacity effect on the graphics that you won't get, but - hey, c'est la vie!
- The site is not fully functional (a couple of dead links and a hell of a lot of blank pages) but has been uploaded
- The bignissans.org.uk URL has been ordered but is not yet functional
- The beseen discussion forum has been set up and is now in place
